Members of FFSSA are dedicated to preserving the fine fleece Shetland through a combination of research, education, and breeding to ensure that this breed in North America is comparable to the Shetland sheep found in its place of origin, the Shetland Isles, Scotland and England.

Our members are committed to strict quality assurance practices to guarantee our sheep and wool products meet stringent requirements. As an example, FFSSA has adopted a Shetland wool grading system like  the one used in the Shetland Isles. The grading system is multi-tiered to show the diverse range of breeding sheep and wool which meet the varied needs of our customers.
